If you caught part 1 of Marketing: How Not To then you’ll know exactly what’s coming up in this funfilled post! This time our moron-of-the-day is Facebook, who have already earned one massive strike on their record for failing to acknowledge millions of users who didn’t want the ‘new facebook’ - and all they asked for was the option to keep the old one! Well today Facebook are asking for your feedback on their new homepage, so I decided to give them some!

Here’s the new facebook hompage which has been covered all over the web today, personally I don’t think much of it, but that’s beside the point. You’ll notice that in the upper right-hand corner there is a ‘Send Feedback’ link (I’ve circled it with and added a pretty red arrow for those who are a little lost right now). Being the kind soul that I am, I clicked on it to give Facebook a little feedback and wrote them a very kind concise message saying ‘I can haz old facebook?’.
Uh oh.
Let’s recreate exactly what happens when you use the new Facebook feedback form.
First

(spot the irony)
Second

Aaahhh……. good times.
Ten Minutes Later Here’s What I see

Good foresight
So What Lesson Have We Learned Today?
If you’re going to ask for customer feedback, make sure that they can actually send it to you. I wonder how long it’ll take them to notice the problem given that no one will be able to send them some feedback to let them know.

ha ha ha - classic. Perhaps fb have become too big for their own good… as for the ladning page, well, I never see it so don’t care. Doesn’t want to make me sign up however it’s still better than the horrid myspace opening page…

I told them that it was too scattered and did not flow and that I want to choke whoever designed it..

In the time between them releasing the new design as beta and them forcing it upon us, I must have sent 3 or 4 feedback messages telling them what I thought was wrong with the new design. (Blue shizz all over the wall being one simple thing they could change).
Although it always appeared to send, I never got so much as a “thank you for your really annoying, constant spam feedback” message - neither within the facebook messaging system or in my email.
I consider that rude.

I agree with all of you! The new design is poor, they are getting too big now, and they are just plain rude!

Great post, I digg.
The new facebook design is horrible. It makes me not want to use it as often anymore.
I sent them some of my own 2 cents. Who knows if it really went through.
Thanks for sharing.
