Google PageRank Update – 28/9/08

I’ve been holding off on this for a couple of hours just to be sure but I think I can say with some confidence now that we’ve just had a PR update.

I started seeing a couple of sites change toolbar-pr last night, so I ran some tests on others and found some PR changes that weren’t yet showing up in the toolbars. Thismorning however, it seems that the toolbars have now updated fully (as far as I can tell).

All good news at this end, you may have noticed that EggRage has gone from a PR3 up to a PR4 now – which is always nice to see, and all our associated sites have all gone to PR3 or higher.

So go and check your PageRank and let me know if you went up or down!

Oh my, 3 of my sites have gone down. One from a 4 to 1!
But PR doesn’t bother me too much. I have now had 2 (other) sites listed in DMOZ since following your guideline.

Oh noes! Try running a bad-neighborhood link check on them?
Good to hear that you got 2 sites into dmoz though! Massive congratulations!

My site, http://ryanroberts.co.uk has gone from 0 to 4, this just goes to show PR is all about links and not content.

Hi Ryan, PR has always been about links :) However I have your site sitting at PR3 rather than 4

Sorry yes I mean 3 not 4, another site of mine is still at 4 and it has just one line of text (I was thinking of that).

The reason I mention it being about links is because for years I thought it was the quality of your site and many people do. I think I was kinda thinking out loud…in your comments :/

I did the bad neighbourhood check and one is an e-commerce store, and it links to cubecart which shows as spam. Strange. The other sites are former clients sites so I can’t really change anything to up the pagerank unless they want me to.
One of the sites I got into DMOZ went from 0 to 3 so that is great!

On the eve of April fools day Google updated the toolbar page rank again on 1st April 2009. This time they filtered more back links. Previously i have around 70 now i have less back links for my site. However site rank well on all top keywords. It seems google backlinks scheme updated too. It still loves article links as i did for my site. I implemented news section and rss feeds on the site which rocks well and may be the reason of ranking my all keywords.
